Michael Paul

Michael Paul, Ph.D. was most recently co-founder of Petra portfolio company Lineagen, Inc. whose mission it was to help individuals and families living with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other forms of Developmental Delay and Disabilities find answers and achieve better outcomes.  Michael served as Lineagen’s President, CEO, and a Director of Lineagen since inception in 2006, and has been recognized as one of Utah’s leading venture entrepreneurs.  Michael was the 2018 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist in Healthcare and a multi-year award recipient of vSpring Capital’s Top 100 Venture Entrepreneurs.

Michael chaired the Organizing Committee for the Inaugural National Summit on Personalized Healthcare that was spearheaded by then-Secretary of Department of Health and Human Services Michael O. Leavitt and then-Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr., and was a Governor appointee to the Steering Committee for the Utah Technology Industry Commission and Vice Chairman for the Utah Technology Council.  MountainWest Capital Network honored Lineagen as one of the “Utah 100 Winners” which recognizes the state’s fastest growing companies.

Prior to joining Lineagen, he was President & Chief Operating Officer of Lineagen Research Corporation, Vice President of Business Development at Huntsman Biotechnology Corporate, Director of Strategic Development at NPS Pharmaceuticals, and Venture Partner with both vSpring Capital and Mesa Verde Venture Partners.

Dr. Paul has also worked at the University of Utah Technology Transfer Office, where he participated in the marketing of University inventions to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.  He is a licensed patent agent of the United States Patent & Trademark Office.  He earned his B.A. from Colby College and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Utah and served on the National Academy of Sciences Biomedical Research and Commercialization Program.
